Michigan
law prohibits a principal from admitting new entrants to school
without a record of having received at least one immunization dose
for each of the following:
measles, mumps, rubella, polio, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis.
Records for all entering kindergarten students and students enrolled
from outside the district will be reviewed to ensure immunizations
are up to date. Notice will be sent to parents or guardians if there
is no immunization record upon school entry or if records are
incomplete. Students not in
compliance with state immunization requirements will be excluded
from school until documentation or immunization is presented.
Parents may sign a waiver if they have a religious or other
objection to immunization, or they may provide a statement of
objection for medical reasons which has been signed by a physician.
Michigan law requires that all students be immunized against
diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps and rubella.
Immunization can be obtained from your physician or health
department.
